Overview

Job Summary: 

Manages, supervises, coordinates, and leads the activities and staff necessary to optimize the delivery of professional services to all Consulting client relationships and/or political regulatory landscapes for VEICBoth contributes work and provides direction on work of other staff on a variety of projects that analyze energy efficiency and renewable energy markets, policies and programs for clients across the country and internationally. Responsible for ensuring that staff have the tools, resources and training necessary to meet objectives in alignment with VEIC goals. May make contributions to business development by pursuing new opportunities with existing customers. Member of Division Operations and/or Long-Term Planning teams. Serves as hiring manager for new positions and/or on hiring teamsMaintains partner relationships (cross project)Routinely represents VEIC and the Consulting Division at national and international forums. Fosters the professional growth and development of staff while contributing to a mission-driven, creative, enjoyable, and stimulating work environment.   

 

Location:

This is a remote or Hybrid position, and the ideal candidate will be located in the states where VEIC conducts business: CA, CT, DC, DE, HI, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, MT, NJ, NY, PA, OH, RI, VA, VT, AND WI. Please note that while we welcome applicants from many areas, we do not currently hire in the following parts of New York: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island. Compensation:

At VEIC, we are committed to pay transparency. The starting pay range for this position will be between $125,000-$135,000. Based on market data, pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and location. Please discuss your intended work location with the recruiter for more information. The total compensation package for this position also includes a full range of medical benefits, 403(b) eligibility with match, Combined Time Off (CTO), Care and Concern leave, Parental leave, wellbeing benefit, a community service day, and eight paid holidays that are effective as of your first day of employment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: 

  • Manages and directs Consulting staff in the development and delivery of high-quality services to VEIC clientsMentors staff and holds staff accountable to meeting performance goals.  
  • Provides supervision for the Consulting staff to include: 
  • providing real-time constructive feedback on an ongoing basis; 
  • developing and communicating clear guidelines and expectations; 
  • assessing individual training needs and coordinating training  accordingly; 
  • guiding and supporting employees as they establish individual performance and professional development goals to maximize the performance, efficiency and work quality of each individual in support of the team; 
  • providing appropriate support and action in managing performance problems; 
  • overseeing staff recruitment and orientation 
  • mentoring staff and holding staff accountable to meeting goals.   
  • Manages high-profile projects promoting cutting-edge energy projects on behalf of clients throughout the country and internationallyThis may include: 
  • Managing on-going client relationships; 
  • Facilitating meetings of external working groups; 
  • Managing the work of other VEIC staff and/or subcontractors; and 
  • Tracking and management of project budgets. 
  • Develops models for efficient work flows and provides guidance and training to Consulting staff to enable executionPlans, implements and oversees optimized allocation of resources to maximize effectiveness in service delivery. 
  • Leads and coordinates staff in the design, development and implementation of strategies, initiatives and activities to support work plans. 
  • Identifies and keeps current with industry trends and best practices and develops methods for communicating to staff and customers to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer. 
  • Develops and manages services and approaches to ensure appropriate, consistent and quality customer service, analysis, documentation, communication and achievement of client expectations. 
  • Supports the coordination of activities with other staff, groups and divisions within VEIC as is necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives. 

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC. 
  • Bachelor’s degree plus ten or more years of relevant professional experience, including managing projects & client relationships, or a similar combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills were acquiredSeven or more years’ experience within the efficiency or renewable energy field(s) preferredAdvanced degree in relevant field preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively advise, mentor, and delegate to staff. 
  • Management experience, including leadership, facilitation, staff supervision, contracts, budget management, communications and ability to develop and attain goals. 
  • Ability to motivate, develop, mentor and engage staff to support VEIC's mission and division/group goals.  
  • Experience in creating best practices and innovating and implementing activities to accomplish group/division goals.  
  • Demonstrated ability and extensive experience in “big-picture” thinking and strategic development.   
  • Demonstrated high level of creativity and innovation in approach to work. 
  • Demonstrated ability and extensive experience in managing all aspects of large, complex projects – including client interaction, maintaining project budgets, and overseeing all aspects of project work. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including comfort with persuasive communications. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Established reputation for excellence, with extensive professional connections within the energy efficiency and/or renewable energy industries. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop (and acquire funding for) new consulting projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously, address competing priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Proven ability to be organized, detail oriented and accurate. 
  • Ability to facilitate group discussions and meetings. 
  • Superior knowledge of the characteristics of key efficiency and/or renewable energy markets and measures. 
  • Superior knowledge of good efficiency and/or renewable program designs. 
  • Facility with techniques of economic analysis.
